Russell M. Magnaghi is history professor emeritus and former director of the Center for Upper Peninsula Studies at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan. he studied at St. Louis University (Ph.D.) and taught at NMU from 1969 to 2014. During this time he was a teacher, researcher, and writer of this unique region of the United States.
